How can we help?

Find solutions to common problems with iPDF Convert Free, or send us feedback if you need further assistance.

Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for the most common issues people run into.

Where are my converted files saved?

Converted files are saved to your browser's default Downloads folder. On most devices it's simply named “Downloads.” If you converted to multiple images (PNG/JPG), they may be delivered as a single ZIP file you'll need to extract.

PDF to Word (DOCX) doesn't preserve the exact layout

PDF is a fixed-layout format and Word is reflowable, so a perfect 1:1 conversion isn't possible. iPDF Convert Free extracts text and reflows it into editable paragraphs. Complex layouts with multi-column text, footnotes, or floating images may need light cleanup in Word.

PDF to Excel (XLSX) didn't capture my tables correctly

Table detection works best on clean, ruled tables with consistent rows. Scanned PDFs, merged cells, or tables without visible borders may not extract cleanly. Try splitting complex pages into a smaller page range, or convert page-by-page for tricky documents.

Scanned PDF — text isn't selectable after converting

Scanned PDFs are images of text, not real text. iPDF Convert Free does not currently run OCR (optical character recognition) in the browser, so converting a scan to Word or Excel will produce empty pages. Convert scans to PNG or JPG instead, or run OCR in a dedicated tool first.

Converted images (PNG/JPG) look blurry or low-resolution

Image quality is controlled by the DPI setting. The default is 150 DPI which is fine for screens. For print or zooming, increase to 300 DPI. Higher DPI produces larger files and takes longer to render — 600 DPI is overkill for most uses.

PDF compression didn't shrink my file much

If your PDF is mostly text or vector graphics, there's little to compress. Compression works best on PDFs with large embedded photos — those get re-encoded as optimized JPEGs. Already-optimized or text-only PDFs may only shrink by a small percentage.

Page range — how do I select specific pages?

Use the Select Pages section to tick the pages you want, or type ranges like 1-3, 5, 7-9 in the input. Leave it empty to convert all pages. Page numbers are 1-based and follow the order in your PDF.

Conversion is slow or my browser freezes

All conversion happens locally in your browser, so large or high-page-count PDFs are limited by your device's memory. Try lowering the DPI, converting fewer pages at a time, closing other tabs, or switching to a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave) on desktop.

Why is there a 100 MB limit per PDF?

100 MB is a soft cap to keep browsers stable — beyond that most browsers run out of memory mid-conversion. For larger files, try splitting them first, or compress the PDF before converting.

Encrypted or password-protected PDFs won't open

iPDF Convert Free can't open password-protected PDFs. Unlock the PDF with the password in your PDF reader first (Print → Save as PDF works on most systems), then upload the unlocked version.

Download didn't start automatically

Check your browser's site settings — some browsers block automatic downloads, especially in Private/Incognito mode. Try a regular browser window, or click the convert button again. Disabling ad blockers on this site can also help, as some interfere with download APIs.

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No. iPDF Convert Free runs 100% in your browser — your PDFs never touch a server. To verify: load the page, disconnect from the internet, then convert a PDF — it still works. Nothing leaves your device.

Other issues

Try disabling ad blockers (they can interfere with browser APIs), clear your cache, or try a different browser or device. If the problem persists, please send us feedback and include the file size, page count, and conversion type.
